Isolate Rehearse Repeat

Isolate Rehearse Repeat. (@sofsurvivor)

In life, in the gym, almost everywhere you look you can find a larger task which can be broken down, creating smaller tasks for you to isolate, rehearse and repeat until proficiency is achieved.
Breaking bigger tasks down into smaller tasks makes the larger task feel easier to handle and it begins to create a system of confidence building. With each little task that is accomplished, the completion of the larger task is closer and now you are more proficient at the little tasks which give you momentum moving forward.

In the gym, try warming up safely with your eyes closed. Make sure you have room around you and that you're keeping your technique your first priority. Then close your eyes, feel where your body is in space, where your weight is in your feet.
Listen - identify what is going on near you (without looking), then try to identify what else is going on 20 feet from you, all the while taking time to breath, smell and hear your surroundings.
Feel - the stretch that you're doing, or the mobility piece that your doing. Take mental note of how you felt prior to it, during it and then after when you test and retest.
ALWAYS be hunting for little tweaks you can make to improve yourself, your experience and technique. These are the building blocks which you will (or will not) build success upon.

In life, any time you learn something new, break it down into smaller tasks which you can make sense of before moving on. Make a large pile of these little tasks by gaining an understanding and tying them together to better understand the bigger task. When you build anything, you start with the first piece and progress to something larger. Use that model. Isolate, rehearse and repeat on the smallest available level and slowly work up as technique, proficiency, accuracy, efficacy improve.

No fancy gear, no temper-tantrum, no flashy clothing or cool-guy equipment will do the work for you. You can fool some with that stuff or with your mouth, but in the end, you have to do the fucking work. Get intimate with the details of a task, break it down and rehearse it.

Seek opportunities to move outside of your comfort zone. Seek opportunities to learn, to be tested, to be humbled, and to grow.
